Waffles for breakfast, anyone?

Governor Tom Corbett has exhibited a hyper-favoritism of the fossil fuel industry during his term, as evidenced by an unwillingness to impose a severance tax on shale gas development, subsidizing an ethane cracker to the tune of $1.65 billion, and avoiding stringent regulation of gas extraction. Those who believe we should invest in renewable energy, increase energy efficiency and reduce the greenhouse gases that cause climate change are especially concerned because all evidence suggests the governor opposes or undervalues renewable energy and energy efficiency, and he went so far as to appoint an environmental regulator that didn't even believe climate change exists.

So it came as something of a surprise when last week, only two months after yet again refusing to sign a letter in support of wind energy, he stood next to a Pennsylvania-based wind energy company and promoted renewable energy for its job creation and greenhouse gas reduction benefits!

What motivated this mid-morning waffle? Fill in the blank. Whatever the case, we are delighted to see the governor acknowledge the benefits of renewable energy and the need to reduce the pollution that causes climate change, if only long enough to lick his chops.
