Does Governor Corbett believe in climate change? Is he willing to take a leadership role in addressing the issue?
These questions came to the fore during Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael Krancer's recent appearance before the House Appropriations Committee. Krancer refused to acknowledge whether climate change caused by humans is occurring and whether it poses significant risks. Krancer also did not know or want to articulate whether Governor Corbett believed in the basic science of climate change, telling Rep. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, that he should pose that question directly to Corbett.
Now Vitali plans to send a letter to Corbett on climate change and is asking his House colleagues to add their names to the letter. The letter asks Corbett to publicly acknowledge the problem of climate change, publicly acknowledge Pennsylvania's contribution to the problem, and publicly commit Pennsylvania to doing its part to address the problem.
Please ask your state representative to support Vitali's effort by adding his or her name to the climate change letter to Corbett.
